The Lighthouse Curriculum

Children in Early Years (EYFS) begin by building the firm foundations of learning and play. These foundations harness the future of successful learning and development and are symbolised by a 'lighthouse.' At the end of Early Years, each child creates their own lighthouse picture and annotates it with their own strengths as a learner. This lighthouse travels with them into year one where, through the Explorer curriculum in years 1-6, children grow these learning and play skills further.

When designing our Nursery and Reception curriculum, we are informed by our knowledge of child development and the statutory educational programmes that underpin the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. Crucially, our adaptive provision puts our knowledge of the Gruffalo children as individuals, as a cohort and as a community at the heart of our decision-making. Each year's curriculum and provision may be slightly different as, each year, the children in our setting are unique learners.
