Welcome to Elmer Class
Welcome to Year 1
We are Elmer class where children transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage into Key Stage 1. We aim to make this step smooth for our children by harmonising the provision in Key Stage 1 with our Early Years provision in Gruffalo. The children have lots of play-based learning opportunities alongside whole class or smaller group teaching so that their independence and creativity continues to flourish.

Why are we called Elmer?
Elmer the patchwork elephant is a little bit different from all the other elephants. As our children follow their journey into Year 1, they are continuing to explore what it means to be themselves. Just like Elmer, they are unique individuals with their own ideas, thoughts and dreams. At South Baddesley, we learn that we are all different but equal. This helps us learn respect for ourselves and respect for others. This too is part of God’s plan for us all.
What are our dreams and ambitions this year?
We dream of being amazing writers, scientists, engineers and artists! We hope to show kindness to everyone around us so that we can work together as a team and have lots of fun in our new class!
What makes Elmer Class 2024-25 special?
We are kind friends and respectful to others.
We always contribute amazing ideas.
We like taking on new challenges and showing resilience.
